Aloha Friends,

The rainy season has finally come to an end and summer is just around the corner. Things are also heating up at Waste Management of Hawaii and we are happy to share with you some of the great news and even a few tips to "think green."

We recently supported local Keep America Beautiful affiliates on Oahu and Maui in their Earth Day efforts. Nani ‘O Waianae on Oahu was selected as a Target Grant Awards recipient and received $5,000 and we donated $5,000 as well to the Community Work Day Program on Maui. We are always honored to help such deserving local organizations that are dedicated to making our islands a better place to live.

Of course, we always encourage you to kokua as well and have included a few tips and tricks to help green your lawn, and we’re not talking about the color. Simple changes such as starting your own compost pile or trading in your gas guzzling lawn mower for an aina-friendly push reel mower can really make a difference.

Finally, we’d like to introduce our new market area environmental protection manager, Justin Lottig, who will help make sure we stay in compliance and minimize our impact on the aina.

If you have any questions about our facilities or interested in a tour, please call me personally at (808) 668-2985 x 21.

Mahalo,
Russell Nanod
